The Press and Public Relations Unit statutorily and directly is under the Office of the Permanent Secretary.

The Press and Public Relations Unit has the responsibility of creating a positive image, awareness and promotion of the Ministers and the Ministry’s activities and achievements in the sector.

The unit is to ensure that there is sustained good cordial relationship between the Ministry and its relevant Publics, the media and other stakeholders of the Ministry.

FUNCTIONS OF THE PRESS AND PUBLIC RELATIONS UNIT

• Creating positive image for the Ministers and for the Ministry.
• Public education and awareness on the activities of the Ministries.
• Promotion of the Minister’s and Ministries achievements in the sector especially those under the ministerial deliverables.
• Ensuring that there is a sustained good cordial relationship between the ministry and its relevant publics, the media and other stakeholders of the ministry.
• Media monitoring through the various print newspapers, Electronic, online media and social media channels as it relates to the ministry’s activities.
• The Press Dept in conjunction with the ICT Dept manages the social media handles /platforms of the Ministry like Facebook, twitter, Instagram, and YouTube.
• Press Dept initiate documentaries for the Ministry on achievements and ministerial deliverables for showcasing through the Television stations, Radio and the Print.
• Issuance of Press releases, Rejoinders and Press statements are also part of responsibilities of the Press and Public Relations Dept. among other mandates.
