Head of Department

INTRODUCTION:

            The Department of Special Duties is a Service Department established via Circular Ref No. HCSF/CMO/EM/243/17 dated 11th March, 2014 by the Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation (OHCSF) to replace the Director, Office of Permanent Secretary (D/OPS). The Department was created to assist the Permanent Secretary in the discharge of his/her duties, ensure smooth running and efficient service delivery, while reducing work-load to enable the Permanent Secretary concentrate on strategic and policy issue.

  • DIVISION:          Headed by a Deputy Director
  • BRANCH:           Headed by an Assistant Director
  • Unit:                    Headed by a Chief

MANDATE OF THE DEPARTMENT

The mandates of the Department as provided in its establishment Circular referred to above includes the following:

  • Assisting the Permanent Secretary to provide line supervision and general management to all staff of the office of the Permanent Secretary;
  • Execute assigned projects for the Permanent Secretary;
  • Manage assigned direct reporting units on behalf of the Permanent Secretary e.g. ACTU, Protocol, Stock Verification, etc;
  • Constituency projects;
  • Provide secretariat services to high level meetings of the Permanent Secretary;
  • Manage high level stakeholder access to the Permanent Secretary;
  • Coordinate the Permanent Secretary’s response to emergencies; and
  • Represent the Permanent Secretary in certain functions.

UNITS UNDER THE DEPARTMENT:

There are three (3) Units under the Department namely:

  1. Stock Verification Unit;
  2. Protocol Unit; and
  3. Anti Corruption and Transparency Unit
