Ugochi Nwakaego Akudo - Nwosu was born in Owerri, Imo State on 13th January, 1967. She is from Ogwume, Ideato - South, LGA of Imo State. She attended Hareth Patterson Kindergarten, Zik Avenue Primary School, Enugu, Queens School, Enugu, where she obtained her First School Leaving Certificate and West African School Certificate respectively. She graduated from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, in 1987 and obtained MBA from the Anambra State University of Technology, Enugu in 1990. She joined the Federal Civil Service in 1991 as a Cultural Officer II, Grade Level 08 from where she rose to the position of a Director.
She was a pioneer Staff of the Cultural Industries Division and the Entertainment and Creative Services Department. As an astute Cultural Officer, she worked in the Bilateral, Festivals and Carnivals and Special Duties Divisions of the Culture Arm of the Ministry.
She was the Technical Assistant to the Permanent Secretary, Information and Culture from 2017 - 2020 and represents the Ministry on major Creative Economy Technical Committees. She represented the Ministry on the Boards of the National Council for Arts and Culture and the National Film and Video Censors Board. In her capacity as a Cultural Officer, she effectively represented Nigeria and the Ministry at local and international fora. She has also attended trainings in the Administrative, Culture and relevant Sectors locally and internationally.
Ugochi coordinated the outstanding participation of the 120 man Nigerian Contingent at the 2019 Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo held in Edinburgh, Scotland from 2nd - 24th August, 2019 as a certified British Council International Festival Manager.
Akudo - Nwosu, Ugochi is currently the Director, Entertainment and Creative Economy Department and has outstandingly contributed to the growth and development of the Art, Culture and the Creative Economy Sector in Nigeria through innovative/ creative concepts, strategic implementation frameworks, effective mentoring and succession plan, technical and professional support and assistance to relevant stakeholders. She successfully deployed creative elements and reprogrammed the successful hosting of the World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development and is presently co-ordinating the 2024 the Abuja International Carnival under a PPP arrangement.
In recognition of her outstanding qualities in the discharge of her duties she was awarded the Presidential Civil Service Merit Award on 27th September, 2019 and 23rd June, 2022 respectively by the Head of Civil Service of the Federation and also received Commendation Award from the Federal Ministry of Information and Culture on 17th June, 2022 for her Commitment and Dedication to Service.
