THE PERMANENT SECRETARY, ABDULKARIM OZI IBRAHIM INAUGURATES A JOINT TECHNICAL COMMITTEE FOR THE REVIEW OF THE REVISED FINAL REPORT ON THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE REFORM AND PARTIAL COMMERCIALIZATION OF THE NIGERIAN FILM CORPORATION
The Joint Technical Committee for the review of the Revised Final Report on the implementation of the Reform and Partial Commercialization of the Nigerian Film Corporation (NFC) was inaugurated on Wednesday, 10th June, 2026. In his opening remarks, the Permanent Secretary stated that the recommendation for the partial commercialization of the Nigerian Film Corporation is targeted towards repositioning the Corporation to effectively deliver on its mandate, enhance efficiency, unlock economic value, and stimulate private sector participation in Nigeria’s film and creative industry;
In his inaugural address, the Permanent Secretary read the Committee’s terms of reference as follows:
- To review the Revised Final Report submitted by Bureau of Public Enterprise (BPE) on the reform and partial commercialization of the NFC;
- To assess implications of the proposed reform model on the statutory mandate, operations, and staff of the Corporation;
- To identify legal, institutional, and financial requirements for successful implementation;
- To engage relevant stakeholders, including the management of NFC, BPE, Labour Unions, and Industry Practitioners to ensure inclusivity;
- To identify potential risks and propose mitigation strategies; and
- To submit a comprehensive report with clear, actionable recommendations to the Honourable Minister within eight (8) weeks from date of the inauguration.
The Permanent Secretary further charged the Committee to approach the task with the highest sense of professionalism, as the review must be thorough, evidence-based, and guided by national interest. He also charged the Committee to harmonize divergent views which must be reflected in the report;
In conclusion, he appreciated members of the Committee for accepting to serve on the important national assignment and then inaugurated the Committee as follows:
